Angel Amankwaah

Angel M. Amankwaah (she/her) is a first-generation immigrant from Kumasi, Ghana, who moved to the United States at the age of five through the visa lottery. Growing up, her family moved frequently, living in New York, Virginia, Atlanta, and Denver, experiences that taught her adaptability, resilience, and the importance of community.

As a ReNew Democracy Foundation Fellow, Angel will serve in the office of Congressman Sean Casten (IL-06) as a Digital Communications Fellow. In this role, she will help translate the office’s legislative work into engaging, accessible content for constituents, with the goal of increasing transparency, civic awareness, and public understanding of how Congress works for the people.

Angel’s professional journey reflects her deep passion for public service and justice. She has worked on the Harris–Walz 2024 presidential campaign, served as a legal intern at Killmer Lane LLP, a civil rights firm in Colorado, and served on the Spanberger for Governor coordinated campaign in Virginia.

A proud magna cum laude graduate of North Carolina Central University, Angel earned her B.A. in Political Science. During her undergraduate career, she conducted and presented research on youth voting policy at the National Conference for Black Political Scientists, strengthening her research and analytical skills.

Guided by her faith and a commitment to service, Angel strives to live out her values with compassion and purpose. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking Ghanaian dishes, spending time with her three sisters, and hosting small gatherings for friends.
